Acoustic Guitar Songs To Learn - Why The Acoustic Guitar Is So Cool
You might want to find out what are the best acoustic songs to learn, but there's no need to limit your choice to purely acoustic songs. The cool thing is that you can take a rock song or something that's synonymous with an electric guitar, clean or distorted, and make a unique sounding cover version yourself. If you're lucky enough to have an 'ok' sounding singing voice, then it's worth practising to sing and play simultaneously so you can really get a feel for the song. Even if your singing isn't the best, it doesn't matter as long as the doors and windows are tightly closed! When you learn acoustic but would rather play a louder style of music, then before you get frustrated by your lack of options, just try playing your favourite songs acoustically and see how great they can sound. There are some easy songs for beginners that you constantly see doing 'the rounds' such as Wild Thing and so on, but these have some very basic chords so it will serve you well to forget how different it may sound to the studio recording and make it your own. So, if you're scanning down a list of songs looking for something to play and you're struggling because they won't sound right, just give them a try. Acoustic songs take on a personality of their own, even though you may be used to a alternative version. Think of Eric Clapton's unplugged version of Layla, it's almost a totally
different song, but it's another classic in its own right. That's the cool thing about experimenting with famous songs. I find that the best acoustic songs are often covers like this. Another example is Times Like These by Foo Fighters. The album version rocks like we know Foo Fighters only can, but the acoustic version, although it still has a harder edge than most, is much more reserved in comparison - and much easier to play! Don't spend too much time deliberating whether to learn acoustic or electric and certainly don't feel stuck if you only have an acoustic but want an electric. Simply learn only the songs that you want to learn and make them your own. You can pick up tabs, chords and even video lessons (which help enormously in my opinion) and learn to play hundreds of songs from a seemingly endless supply of resources. If you specifically want songs to learn that were only ever designed and made for the acoustic, you can find good songs to play in an acoustic forum by posting a question out there, but I would simply learn to play popular songs from your favorite artist and adapt them to the acoustic guitar, that's if they haven't don't an acoustic version already. So, I hope you agree it needn't be that hard to find acoustic songs to learn and I hope this article has given you some ideas of what you'd like to play next.
